How To Send Clothing
Sending clothing by post is a great way to avoid carrying them around with you, and it can also be a cost-effective way to ship them. However, there are a few things you need to do to prepare the clothing correctly so that they arrive at their destination safely and undamaged. In this article, I will demonstrate how to do just that and discuss the different options you have when it comes to shipping companies.

Prepare The Clothing
First things first, before you pack your clothes in a box to send them off, you need to make sure that the clothes are clean and dry.
You also want to check for any defects in the fabric or other imperfections, as these can become more visible during transport. If there are any problems, you can either choose not to send those items or have them repaired before sending them.
If any of your clothes are damaged, you want to make sure that the postal service knows about it so that they can compensate you for the damage or loss. You can do this by filling out a form before sending the package.
As far as folding clothing is concerned, there are many different philosophies on folding clothes so that they arrive at their destination without wrinkles.
However, I prefer to lay several layers of tissue paper over the garment and then fold it up in thirds vertically. Then I pin the clothing together along its edges using safety pins placed about half an inch apart. This will ensure that the item arrives undamaged and with minimum wrinkles.
Examine The Garment
Once you have folded the clothing and prepared it for transport, you want to take a good look at it to see if there are any other things you need to do before sending it off.
For example, if your clothing is heavily embellished with sequins or embellishments, you might want to remove these before shipping them. This is because sequins and embellishments can either fall off while in transit or catch on to other items in the box, causing more damage.
If your clothing item has any small pieces of jewelry on them like brooches or pins, be sure to remove them as well. These can also fall off or cause damage.
Fold The Clothes Neatly
Next, you need to fold or roll your clothing neatly before placing it in the box. This will help ensure that the item arrives at its destination undamaged and free from wrinkles.
If your clothing is heavily embellished or decorated, you can roll them or fold them in thirds before placing them in the box. If the clothing is small enough and not too thick, you can choose to fold it up neatly and place it in a poly mailer bag instead.
Package The Clothing
Now that your clothes are ready for mailing, you need to package them correctly to avoid getting damaged in transit.
The best way to do this is by using a sturdy box and packing the clothing item as tightly as possible. You also want to use plenty of packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or other protective materials to keep the clothing from moving around in the box.
If you are mailing a very small item, you can use a poly mailer instead. These are generally made of lightweight plastic that protects the contents from leakage or moisture damage. You must seal the poly mailer properly with tape to not come open during transit.
Once your items are packaged, it is time to address your package and mail it off!
Using A Poly Mailer
If you are mailing a small or medium-sized clothing item, a poly mailer bag will be perfect for this. Just make sure that the items you’re sending won’t get crushed by the larger items in the box.
The poly mailer is easy to use and looks like a plastic bag with an adhesive strip around the opening. You place your item in the bag to seal it, ensuring it is centered over the adhesive strip before closing up the bag. Then remove any air bubbles from inside by pressing on all four sides of the bag.
Once it is sealed, you can use a permanent marker to write the recipient’s address on the front of the bag. Then attach the appropriate postage and mail it off!
Using A Box
If you are mailing a larger item, such as a shirt, blouse, or dress, you might want to use a box instead. When using a box, it is best to have its original packing slip still intact so that you can easily identify what it contains.
Place several layers of soft tissue paper in the bottom of the box before placing the clothing item inside. Then fill any extra space in the box with more tissue paper or other packing materials.
Once the box is filled with your clothing item, you can seal it up by placing several layers of tape around all four sides. Then address the package to its recipient and attach the appropriate postage! Your clothing item should arrive at its destination in perfect condition.
